This ain’t the Ocala Shrine’s first rodeo; in fact, it’s their 36th! The 36th Annual Ocala Shrine Rodeo will be held August 31 and September 1 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. both nights. Bull riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and bareback riding are just a few of the activities you'll see. Tickets are $20 at the gate, but you can purchase them for $15 online. Children younger than five are free, and their admission is half-off on Friday night.
Want to have some fun in the sun this Labor Day weekend in Ocala? Kick off your flip-flops and relax by the pool at the Labor Day Weekend Poolside Reggae Party at the Hilton Ocala. This free pool party open to the public is on August 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Partygoers can expect island food, drink specials, and live reggae music by Propaganjah.
If family fun is what you're looking for this weekend, look no further than the Labor Day Weekend Cookout on September 1. This event is hosted by Ocala Pride Inc., and their president, Albert Rager, will be serving hotdogs and hamburgers as well as baked beans, potato salad, and arroz con gandules, just to name a few dishes. Admission is $8 a person, and there will also be plenty of games for kids and even a massage chair that provides five-minute massages for just $5!
Can’t get enough of cookouts, barbeques, and picnics? Then the Labor Day Picnic is for you! This free event is hosted by the Central Florida United Automobile Workers Retirees to celebrate families. Running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 3, the picnic will not only serve food, but there will also be be balloons and face painting as well.
