Each day of summer seems to go by a little faster, which means only one thing; the dreaded back-to-school season will soon be upon us. Tax-Free Weekend

One deal that goes beyond just being tied to one store is, of course, tax-free weekend, which August 2-4 this year. It’s worth mentioning that not all products are exempt from tax. Supplies for school that are less than $15 are included as well as clothing, handbags, fanny packs, diaper bags, bags, and wallets that are less than $60. The last things to be discounted are the first $1,000 dollars of personal computers and computer accessories.

Dollar General

In this day and age, a dollar can't get you very far... except at Dollar General. This a greatl place to get things like pens, markers, notebooks, and such. There's no reason to blow $30 on a set of gel pens or highlighters when you can get something that’ll do the same job for a fraction of the price at the Dollar General.

Five Below

Five Below exists in a similar vein to Dollar General. Some deals include their $5 backpack and name brands like Crayola, Mead, and Sharpie. With their $1 school essentials section, there are very few back-to-school supplies you won't be able to find here.

Text Book Buy Back

While this isn't in reference to a specific store, it's definitely something you can do to save money. Gainesville has numerous stores that buy and sell used textbooks. If you have used textbooks you're no longer using, you can sell them at these buyback spots and make a little bit of money to possibly throw back into buying new ones. They sell the used books for a much cheaper price than what you'll find a new textbook for. Some of these places include Book Gallery West and Gator Textbooks.
