Description
St. Theresa Catholic Church will be hosting an Interfaith Voices Against Anti-Semitism gathering to address the growing problem of hate and anti-Semitism in America.
Event Details
Fifteen local churches, three synagogues and one mosque will participate to “Stop the Hatred” by joining together in peace and prayer. All faiths are welcome to join together to fight hatred. Clergy from Judaism, Christianity and Islam will present on the dangers of hatred at this night of peace and healing.
The event will feature Keynote Speaker Roslyn Franken whose mother survived the horrors of the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi Europe and father survived the 1945 nuclear attack on Nagasaki, Japan while in a work camp as a Prisoner of War. Roslyn is the noted author and presenter of her book entitled, Meant to Be, a remarkable story about her parents.
Other speakers include Dr. Harry Richter whose both parents immigrated to America after surviving Concentration Camp internment.
Prayers will be offered by Rabbi Tuviah Schreiber of Temple Beth David and additional clergy.
This event was organized by Arlene Glantz, a member of Temple Beth David of Spring Hill, in response to the slaying of 11 Jews at a synagogue in Pittsburgh nearly a year ago and the rise in anti-Semitic events.
She called leaders of other faiths in the area and assembled this group who will participate in the event: Father Bruce King of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Iman Ahmet Aly of the Islamic Center of New Port Richey, Rabbi Paul Schreiber of Temple Beth David, Rev. Giuseppe Mattei of Nativity Lutheran Church of Weeki Wachee, Rev. Thomas Weitzel of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spring Hill and Ron Becker, spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Tefillah in Port Richey.
